| Η γνωριμία με τον Peter έγινε μέσω Instagram. Φυσικά τον γνώριζα αλλά δεν είχε τύχει να αγοράσω ή ακόμα και να δω από κοντά κάποιο από τα λουριά του. Ήμασταν σε ανοιχτή επαφή για αρκετό καιρό και έχοντας μια ενημέρωση για το κομμάτι των reviews που ξεκινήσαμε έδειξε διάθεση να συμμετέχει και ο ίδιος σε όλο αυτό, προσφέροντας μας δωρεάν 2 λουριά. Το πρώτο από τα 2, είναι αυτό που θα παρουσιάσω και κατά κοινή ομολογία είναι το λουρί για το οποίο είναι γνωστός ο Peter . Θεωρώ δε, πως για τους περισσότερους που μπαίνουν στον κόσμο των ρολογιών Panerai, είναι κι ένα από τα λουριά που πρωτοσκέφτονται να αποκτήσουν. Η κίνηση του Peter να μας προσφέρει τα λουριά του ήρθε σχετικά απροσδόκητα αφού ξυπνώντας ένα πρωί είχα λάβει ένα email του όπου με ενημέρωνε πως έχει 2 λουριά έτοιμα για το Paneristi Hellas με μια φωτογραφία και ζητώντας να τον ενημερώσω για τη διεύθυνση που πρέπει να μου τα στείλει. | | The acquaintance with Peter was through Instagram. Of course I had heard of him but I had never bought or even handled any of his straps. We were in open contact for some time and after getting informed about our Strap review section, Peter showed willingness to participate himself in all this by offering to us two straps of his straps for free. The first of the two is what I will present, and by common accord is the strap which Peter is better known for. I think that for most people entering the world of Panerai watches, it is also one of the straps they are first thinking of acquiring. Peter's gesture to offer us his straps came quite unexpectedly, as I woke up one morning, and seeing that I had received an email informing me that he had 2 straps ready for Paneristi Hellas, with a photo of those, and asking me to inform him about my address.

| Το συγκεκριμένο λουρί ήρθε τελείως απρόοπτα, μιας και ο Peter με ενημέρωσε όταν το είχε ήδη έτοιμο για αποστολή. Ανέλαβε ο ίδιος και το κόστος αποστολής με FedEx courier και το πακέτο ήρθε μέσα σε 6 ημέρες από την Ινδονησία, με αποφυγή τελωνειακών διαδικασιών. Άψογος ο Peter ο οποίος τα συντόνισε όλα μόνος. | | This strap came totally unexpected, since Peter informed me when he had it ready for dispatch. He also took care of the shipping costs with FedEx courier and the parcel came within 6 days from Indonesia, avoiding customs procedures. Peter was impeccable and coordinated everything on his own. |

| Όπως κι ο Κώστας, έτσι κι εγώ δίνω μεγάλη σημασία στη συσκευασία και τα αξεσουάρ που συνοδεύουν τα αντικείμενα με τα οποία ασχολούμαι. Μια ωραία και προσεγμένη συσκευασία μπορεί να προσθέσει πόντους και σε ένα προϊόν του οποίο έχει ατέλειες. Στη δική μας περίπτωση τα λουριά ήρθαν μέσα σε φάκελο, τυλιγμένα καλά με αεροπλάστ και επιπλέον σακούλα της FedEx. Το γνώριζα ήδη πως τα Gunny Straps δεν έχουν δική τους συσκευασία και πως αυτός ήταν ο τρόπος που αποστέλλονταν. Αρκετοί κατασκευαστές λειτουργούν με τον ίδιο τρόπο και δεν έχουν δώσει καθόλου βαρύτητα στη συσκευασία των λουριών, είναι κάτι που θα το συναντήσουμε ξανά σε αυτή την ενότητα. Παρόλα αυτά, το λουρί ήρθε γρήγορα και ασφαλώς συσκευασμένο. | | Just like Kostas, I am paying a lot of attention to the packaging and the accessories that accompany the items I deal with. A nice and sophisticated packaging can add points to a product that has flaws. In our case, the straps came in a folder, wrapped well with bubble wrap inside a FedEx bag. I already knew that Gunny Straps did not have their own personalized packaging and that this was the way they send their straps. Several manufacturers are operating in the same way and have not given a lot of attention to the strap packaging, it's something we'll see again in this section. Whatsoever, the strap came fast and securely packaged. |

Πολύς λόγος γίνεται για τα λουριά «74» και σίγουρα περίμενα με ανυπομονησία να παραλάβω το λουρί για δοκιμή από τον πρώτο κατασκευαστή που παρήγαγε αντίγραφο του εν λόγω vintage λουριού.
Το 74 Serie είναι ένα λουρί που πολλοί Paneristi έχουν και ακόμα περισσότεροι έχουν σκεφτεί να αποκτήσουν. Η συσκευασία απογοητευτική αν και αναμενόμενη. Για ένα λουρί με τέτοιο pedigree θα έπρεπε να έχει δοθεί προσοχή και σε αυτό το κομμάτι. Ενδεχομένως να μην είναι σημαντικό για τους περισσότερους, αλλά νομίζω πως οι λεπτομέρειες τελικά κάνουν και τη διαφορά.
Ο Peter έχει κάνει προσπάθεια να φτιάξει ένα λουρί όσο το δυνατόν πιο κοντά στο original vintage 74.Τα λουριά εκείνης της εποχής ήταν μακριά από το να χαρακτηριστούν ως αψεγάδιαστα και φυσικά δεν πρέπει να ξεχνάμε ότι μιλάμε για ρολόγια ειδικής χρήσης όπου σημασία είχε η αντοχή κι όχι η εμφάνιση.
Εξαρχής λοιπόν, υπάρχει η ενημέρωση πως το συγκεκριμένο λουρί θα κατασκευαστεί έχοντας τις ατέλειες στο ράψιμο του original εκτός αν ζητηθεί διαφορετικά. (Είναι κάτι που αναφέρεται στο website.)
Ο Peter έχει φροντίσει να ενημερώσει πως δεν χρησιμοποιεί μηχανές σε κανένα κομμάτι της κατασκευής και πως όλα γίνονται στο χέρι. Γνωρίζει λοιπόν πως κάθε του λουρί είναι μοναδικό και προτρέπει όσους αναζητούν κάτι χωρίς ψεγάδια, να κοιτάξουν αλλού.
Το ανοιχτό καφέ δέρμα απο μοσχάρι είναι επεξεργασμένο για να δείχνει vintage και είναι εμφανής η επεξεργασία που έχει υποστεί μιας και το δέρμα της εσωτερικής μεριάς δεν έχει επεξεργαστεί καθόλου. Ο Peter δεν μοιράζεται πληροφορίες για την επεξεργασία που κάνει στα λουριά του. Αυτό που καταλαβαίνω είναι πως η επεξεργασία γίνεται αφού το δέρμα έχει κοπεί και ραφτεί. Το λουράκι δεν είναι αδιάβροχο κάτι που κατά τη γνώμη μου είναι λάθος. Οι άκρες του λουριού δεν είναι γυαλισμένες και με τη χρήση και τον καιρό η φθορά που θα αποκτήσουν, θα προσθέσουν πόντους στο αισθητικό κομμάτι του λουριού.
Το sewn-in buckle έχει πληθωρική παρουσία και ταίριαξε γάντι στο 372 όπου και δοκίμασα το λουρί. Θεωρώ όμως πως ένα GPF Mod-Dep buckle θα ταίριαξε καλύτερα στο χαρακτήρα του συγκεκριμένου λουριού. Από την άλλη το polished buckle, εξαρχής φαίνεται «ταλαιπωρημένο» για να ταιριάξει στην εμφάνιση του λουριού.
Το λουρί έχει 5 τρύπες, σωστά χτυπημένες και προσωπικά με βόλεψαν. Εσωτερικά, στο ένα κομμάτι υπάρχει η σφραγίδα “gunny”, ενώ στο άλλο κομμάτι υπάρχει μια αρίθμηση που στην περίπτωση μας είναι “AF422”
Το λουρί έρχεται χωρίς tubes και ο Peter επιμένει ότι δε χρειάζονται. Χωρίς να διαφωνήσω, εγώ πάντοτε χρησιμοποιώ για επιπλέον ασφάλεια. Εφόσον ο κατασκευαστής προτείνει πως το λουρί μπαίνει στο ρολόι χωρίς tubes, δεν μπορεί να χαρακτηριστεί μείον πως δεν περιλαμβάνονται tubes στο πακέτο.
Το λουρί το φόρεσα την ίδια μέρα που το παρέλαβα , ταίριαξε τέλεια στο ρολόι και είναι αρκετά μαλακό ώστε να μπορεί να φορεθεί χωρίς κάποια προετοιμασία. Φορέθηκε για 7 μέρες συνεχόμενα χωρίς να μου δημιουργήσει κανέναν απολύτως προβληματισμό.
| | There is a lot of discussion about the “74” style straps and I was definitely looking forward to picking up this strap for testing from the very first strapmaker that produced a reproduction of that vintage strap. The 74 Serie is a strap that a lot Paneristi have and even more have thought of acquiring. Packaging is disappointing though expected. For a strap with such a pedigree, attention should also be paid to that part. It may not be important for many but I do think the details ultimately make the difference.
Peter has made an effort to make a strap as close as possible to the original vintage “74”. The straps of that era were far from being regarded as flawless and of course we should not forget we are talking about special watches where durability was important and not appearance.
From the beginning, there is the information that this strap will be made with the flaws in sewing, or crooked sewing, unless otherwise requested. (It's something mentioned on the website.) Peter has made sure he does not use machines on any part of the production process and everything is done by hand. He knows that each strap is unique and prompts those who are looking for something flawless, to look elsewhere.
The light brown calf skin is processed to look like vintage, while the inner part of the leather strap has not been processed at all. Peter does not share any information about the processing he does to his straps and quotes it as ‘secret’. What I understand is that the treatment is done after the skin has been cut and sewn. The strap is not waterproof which in my opinion is wrong. The edges of the strap are not polished but quite raw, and with the patina that they develop after time and wear, they will add points to the aesthetic piece of the strap.
The sewn-in buckle has an exuberant presence and looks perfect on the 372 I used to review the strap. However, I think a GPF Mod-Dep buckle would be better suited to the character of this particular strap. On the other hand, the polished buckle, appears "tainted" to suit the appearance of the strap.
The strap has 5 holes, well punched and fitted well on my wrist. On the inner part, on one piece there is the stamp "gunny" a trademark of Gunny Straps, while on the other piece there is a millesimation that in our case is "AF422".
The strap comes without tubes and Peter recommends that they are not needed. Without disagreeing, I always use it for extra security. Since the manufacturer suggests that the strap does not need any tubes, there is no criticism for the fact that tubes are not included.
I wore the strap on the same day I received it, fitted perfectly on the watch and it is soft enough to be worn without any preparation/break-in. I wore for seven days in a row without any problem and without creating any concerns to me.

| Το 74 Serie είναι ένα λουρί που υπάρχει στην αγορά αρκετά χρόνια. Ακόμη και τώρα η ζήτηση του παραμένει σε υψηλά επίπεδα και δεδομένου πως όλη η διαδικασία παραγωγής γίνεται στο χέρι, ανά περιόδους έχει σχετικά υψηλό χρόνο αναμονής. Είμαι της άποψης πως η αγορά κρίνει και είτε επιβραβεύει, είτε τιμωρεί. Στη συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση έχουμε ένα λουρί όμορφο, ποιοτικό κι έναν τύπο, τον Peter, ο οποίος φαίνεται παθιασμένος με αυτό που κάνει και σου το μεταδίδει. Βάζοντας στην εξίσωση και το γεγονός πως το λουρί ταίριαξε τόσο στο ρολόι όσο και στον καρπό μου, δε βρήκα κάτι αρνητικό για το λουρί αυτό καθεαυτό. Θα προτιμούσα άλλη μπούκλα ίσως, αλλά αυτό είναι θέμα προσωπικής επιλογής. | | The 74 Serie is a strap that has been on the market for several years. Even now its demand remains high and as the whole production process is done by hand, it has relatively high waiting times per periods. In my opinion the market is the best judge and either rewards or punishes you. In this case, we have a nice, quality and a guy strap, Peter, who seems really passionate about what he does and he transfers these positive vibes to you as well. Adding on the equation the fact that the strap matched both my watch and my wrist, I did not find anything negative about the strap as such. I would prefer another buckle maybe, but that's a matter of personal preference. |

8. Βαθμολογία:
Το συγκεκριμένο λουρί αποτελεί ορόσημο του Peter και είναι το πιο αναγνωρισίμο Gunny strap. Η εξυπηρέτηση και η επικοινωνία ήταν άριστη χωρίς περιθώριο για οποιαδήποτε συζήτηση. Η ποιότητα κατασκευής αλλά και η ποιότητα του δέρματος ήταν σε πολύ καλό επίπεδο. Η εμφάνιση του είναι ιδανική για όσους ψάχνουν καινούριο λουρί με vintage διάθεση. Η τιμή του δεν κρίνεται υπερβολική αλλά θα ήταν ακόμη καλύτερα να υπήρχε και μια συσκευασία που θα τη δικαιολογούσε ακόμη περισσότερο αλλά θα καθιστούσε και το λουρί ακόμη πιο ιδιαίτερο για όσους το αγοράζουν. Με μια πιο προσεγμένη συσκευασία η συνολική βαθμολογία θα πλησίασε στο απόλυτο.

This strap is Peter's trademark and is the most recognizable Gunny strap. Customer service and communication were excellent without any space for criticism. The quality of the construction as well as the quality of the leather were very good. In terms of looks is ideal for those seeking for a new strap with vintage character. It is priced quite fair but it would even be better to have a package/packaging that would justify it even more and in the same time it would make the strap even more special for those who buy it. If there was a more sophisticated package/packaging, the overall score would be near perfect.
